Red Dot Sights Are Different from Laser Sights

Red dot sights, with some models also known as reflex red dots sights, are non-magnifying optical sights with a visible light aiming point, primarily used for rapid aiming and quick firing. They are favored by special forces around the world and frequently appear in various games.

Because the light dot projected into the eye within a red dot sight always remains aligned with the sight, even if the eye is not directly behind the center axis, accurate aiming is still possible. This improves shooting accuracy when moving at high speeds or when the body is swaying. Consequently, they are widely used on military firearms and even as head-up displays in fighter jets.

Furthermore, the special light source can be generated not only by LED lights but also by natural light or extremely low-level radioactive materials, providing semi-permanent effectiveness.

Red dot sights differ from laser sights. A laser sight is a device that projects a laser red dot onto the target, whereas a red dot sight reflects a special light source as a dot off a coated lens and into the shooter's eye. Therefore, the target cannot detect a light dot on itself.
